No need for store bought spice mixes when you can have THIS amazing one.

If you think you can only use spicy mixes on meats, you have another thing coming. Yes, I love this on burgers, steak, and chops, but there are so many more options.

Roasted veggies never had it so good! Think seafood is too delicate to handle the heat? NOPE!

Salmon and shrimp both love it. I mean, think of all the crab boils that you can have with it!

If you love a little KICK and HEAT in your dishes, this cajun seasoning is just what you are needing in your kitchen!

CAJUN SEASONING

What is it? Is it spicy?

Coming from Louisiana which, the home of Cajun cuisine, it's known for using a variety of peppers for the flavor profile.

IS CREOLE SEASONING THE SAME AS CAJUN?

Cajun uses mostly peppers for the spice whereas Creole is mainly herbs with a little kick.

Which is spicier Cajun or Creole? Creole, being more floral, tends to be a little less spicy.

WHAT IS CAJUN SEASONING MADE OF?

  • paprika, smoked paprika optional
  • cayenne pepper
  • pepper
  • onion powder
  • garlic powder
  • oregano
  • thyme
  • salt
  • crushed red pepper, if you like extra spicy

WHAT IS A GOOD SUBSTITUTE FOR CAJUN SEASONING

You can make this seasoning blend but if you are missing a few of the ingredients, just add some extra cayenne and paprika to an all purpose seasoning like Adobo or Steak Seasoning.

If you don't have plain oregano and thyme, feel free to use Italian seasoning in their places.

HOW DO YOU MAKE CAJUN SEASONING FROM SCRATCH?

STEP ONE: Gather all your spices!

STEP TWO: Combine into one spice mixture.

STEP THREE: Use on all your favorite dishes!

Simple, right?!?

HOW LONG DOES IT LAST?

Like all spice mixes, I recommend storing it in an air tight container, like this jar, and then store in a cool, dark place in your kitchen.

I have a cabinet away from the heat of the stove, but keep my bulk mixes in the pantry.
